U of A Intellectual Property Language

Contract issue:  University of Alberta - Intellectual Property Language

Over a year ago, the University of Alberta made changes to their contract documents in regards to ownership and use of intellectual property.  The new wording transferred ownership of all intellectual property to the university. The CAA lobbied the U of A to adjust their wording so that ownership remained with the architect, but give the university freedom to freely manage and maintain their facilities - including renovations.

The U of A has subsequently implemented revised language that goes a long way towards alleviating our concerns. However we feel there are a few additional points that we would like to see clarified.

Current Status

We have sent a letter outlining our appreciation for the new language, explained our thoughts for some further adjustments, and have requested a meeting.
